There are
many easy ways to support your library!
Individual Contributions
The Reading Public Library Foundation accepts monetary
donations and donated audio-visual materials
all year long at every location. Books for
our annual book sale are accepted until a
cut-off date. Materials donated directly to
our collection must be reviewed by the
librarian in charge of that collection.

ADOPT-A-BOOK!
or perhaps you'll adopt a
video, a CD, or a DVD. Your tax-deductible donation will be used
to purchase items of your choice for RPL
Main or the branch that you designate. A bookplate showing your name will be
placed in each item. You may choose to
dedicate the item to the memory of, or in
honor of someone special to you. That
name will be shown on the bookplate as well. If you are a member of a club or
organization, adopting a book could be a
group project...perhaps continuing from
month-to-month or year-to-year.

Planned Giving
With careful planning, it is possible to
reduce or eliminate income taxes (including
capital gain) and transfer taxes (including
gift, estate, inheritance and
generation-skipping). Individuals can enjoy
these tax savings while turning appreciated
assets into an income for themselves or
others. Planned giving is a tool that helps
them achieve their goals for the Reading
Public Library (RPL) while enhancing their
financial plans and security.
Through the Reading Public Library
Foundation, a non-profit, 501(c)3
corporation organized solely for the purpose
of accepting private gifts to the Library,
RPL can offer a variety of life-income
arrangements. A life-income arrangement
operates as follows: an individual
irrevocably contributes cash, appreciated
securities or other property to the
Foundation, which then sells and reinvests
the property to pay an annual income to the
individual and/or a beneficiary for life or
a term of years. After the death of the last
beneficiary or the end of the term, the gift
is transferred to RPL. The proceeds of the
gift are used for the purposes designated by
the individual at the time of the
contribution.
Benefits Include:
- Annual income for you
and a beneficiary;
- Professional
investment management at no charge;
- Bypass realizing
capital gains on gifts of appreciated
assets;
- Immediate federal
income tax charitable deduction;
- Estate tax savings;
- Creating a future
gift that reflects your vision for
Reading Public Library.
